Bjarne Melgaard

Bjarne Melgaard (born 1967, Sydney) is an Oslo-based artist known for his transgressive paintings and installations that draw upon the likes of gay club culture, S&M, AIDS and addiction. His expressionist drawings and paintings don’t shy from excess, taking on such themes with a deadpan and hyperpersonal clarity. He has participated in the Venice (2011), Lyon (2013) and Whitney (2014) Biennials and his works are held in numerous public collections including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; Musée d’Art Moderne et Contemporain, Strasbourg; and Moderna Museet, Stockholm. This work is offered as an extension of Bummed Out at Fineart, Oslo.
