Sean-Kierre Lyons
Venus Flower and Friends

$300

Sean-Kierre Lyons (born 1991, Salinas, CA) is a Brooklyn-based artist. Their work recuperates the characters and cultural context that shape Black American identity, examining the mutations of folkloric characters from the Antebellum period. With humor and searing acuity, their Flower Fighters series examines histories of representation and ownership, imagining friends and loved ones as the ebullient figures of a Black Flower Forest. Their work is the subject of a forthcoming solo exhibition at the Fortnight Institute, New York and has been exhibited in group exhibitions at Housing, New York; Ochi Projects, Los Angeles; Springsteen Gallery, Baltimore and as part of Diamond Stingily’s Wall Sits at the Kunstverein Munich. This print is offered as an extension of The Clouds and Flowers are always taking notes at Larrie NYC, their third solo presentation with the gallery.
